How To Select Lotion For Different Skin Types?

  • Determine your skin type. Your skin type can help you decide what kinds of products are better suited for you. Different kinds of skin respond better to different products. The  best lotion for extremely dry skin can vary from person to person.

    • An oil-based moisturiser generally works better for dry skin. You may want to consider petroleum based products if your skin is cracking.

    • If your skin is oily, try a lighter moisturiser to your face after washing. Areas that tend to be oily, such as the face will not need the same treatments as other areas of the body.

    • If your skin gets easily irritated and you are prone to rashes and redness,  ingredients like chamomile and aloe can help. These soothing components smooth over dry skin. You should also avoid anything having fragrances and dyes.

    • If you are older, then, an oil-based moisturiser will be good as the oil-producing glands in our body become less active.

  • Explore the underlying problems. Dry skin can be related to underlying skin problems. If your skin dryness is accompanied by certain symptoms then you can go to a dermatologist for a prescription cream.

    • Psoriasis and eczema can lead to dry skin. In such conditions, you could break out in scaly rashes and frequently experience dead skin coming off in flakes.

    • Sun exposure can lead to dry skin. If you live in a sunny area, you should ask dermatologist on how to best prevent your skin from getting sun damage. Too much sunlight can cause certain cancers, so it's really important that you educate yourself on how to stay protected.

  • If Needed, Ask For Help : Often, people are not sure what type of products they need if their skin is oily in some places and dry in others or if they have certain conditions, like eczema, and are unsure if products could potentially make symptoms worse.
